Our extraordinary privilege: creating objects to provide many the strength they need these days…

It began in 1972 when I went off to university in upstate New York to study art and gold and silversmithing. Little did I know I was embarking on a lifelong journey beginning to discover and tap into my unique gifts. I do believe each of us comes to this life with unique gifts.

Through the sacred science of kundalini yoga and meditation I began turning my attention within, where I found anxiety, fear and turmoil. I had been spoiled as a child and bullied some as well. Through cultivating discipline and dedication with this practice and the martial arts, I began a self-healing, re-learning and empowerment process that would lead me to begin to manifest my destiny as a visionary artisan and spiritual warrior. From the very beginning of that process and with the creator’s blessings and guidance I began adopting Sikhism, a most noble way of life and the world’s fifth largest religion. It originated in northern India. Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th and final founder of Sikhism had to be a soldier, as there was tyrannic religious oppression in India for generations during and after the first founder, Guru Nanak, passed in 1539. Guru Gobind Singh was an important humanitarian for that time, standing up for the rights of everyone wherever he encountered any being marginalized. For me, this standing up for all has become a prayer and a priority.

I've shared this opportunity/responsibility of standing up for others, which I believe Sikhs have, as sons and daughters of Guru Gobind Singh, in several Sikh Temples (Gurdwaras) in the last months, addressing the congregation (sangat) where all of the attendees are Punjabi Sikhs, mostly from northern India (Punjab) unlike myself (born and raised in the USA). Received positive confirmation from some and hoping others who heard my words will follow through with the idea and begin standing up for others more, if they do not already. We were grateful to be able to offer our original, exceptional merchandise at these events. Our commitment to provide excellence in every way; design, craftsmanship, fit, finish and customer service, necessitates our things cost more than what many are used to through products that often come from India.

Over decades and through varied leadership opportunities I have come to understand the privilege of serving others. Khalsa Raj has an opportunity to introduce many, to our innovative designs made to the very highest standards. Whether a one-of-a-kind knife, kirpan or sword, the excellent Artisan Kirpans we produce, or the empowering jewelry and art which we offer, all are conceived and created to provide us the strength, courage and grace we need these days in our often busy lives…. After almost 50 years in business, we are confident you will cherish your investment in our unique items. Thank you.
